Fall/Winter 26: The End of Strict Restraint – Part I
Share
The defining shift of Fall/Winter 2026 (FW26) is the move away from an aesthetic that associated luxury almost exclusively with restraint and minimalism. According to Harper's Bazaar, FW26 embraces a bolder, more glamorous and sensual direction. Classic elements such as tailored suits, bows, velvet and animal prints are not simply revived—they are reinterpreted through exaggerated proportions, unexpected silhouettes and innovative materials. At the same time, futuristic textures including PVC, rubber and fiberglass introduce a distinctly modern edge to the season.
This does not mean that minimalism has disappeared. Instead, it has evolved into a foundation upon which designers build through sculptural shapes, richer textures and statement accessories. A seemingly understated outfit can be completely transformed by an architectural handbag, a distinctive pair of shoes or an unexpected combination of materials.
